City

A word from the Mayor

A CITY WORTH DISCOVERING!

Nestled along the banks of the Yamaska River for over 260 years, the Saint-Hyacinthe community has always had the ability to adapt, offering its residents a dynamic living environment with a warm human dimension and forward-looking vision. Decidedly modern, Saint-Hyacinthe has all the assets needed to succeed and continue growing at all levels.

In terms of education, the City of Saint-Hyacinthe is home to a large number of public and private institutions at the elementary and secondary school levels, not to mention the École professionnelle (a vocational school). At the college level, the local CEGEP offers numerous study options, while the local campus of the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire (ITA) specializes in agriculture. Continuing education courses are also offered in hundreds of different fields. And of course, Saint-Hyacinthe boasts the presence of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal, a renowned Quebec institution of higher learning.

The booming economy is driven by hundreds of businesses and manufacturing or service companies. An agri-food Science Park, the community is home to the Cité de la biotechnologie, with its priorities clearly focused on the knowledge economy to secure its future growth. In addition, residents have access to a complete, extensive spectrum of healthcare and social services, including a regional hospital and a CLSC (local community service centre).

In recent years, many different types of residential housing have become available in the Maskoutain region, creating homogenous neighbourhoods with well-organized activities and a strong tradition of volunteering.

These are only some of Saint-Hyacinthe’s many features showcased on this website, which is designed to answer visitors’ questions and cater to their interests.

I am totally confident that it will meet, if not surpass, their expectations.

Claude Bernier
Mayor of Saint-Hyacinthe
